Welcome to the Finnish history and old times with the help of digitised newspapers!

The National Library has digitised newspapers published in Finland from 1771 to 1929. They are available online. Some newspapers published after 1929 have also been digitised and are available in legal deposit libraries.

1918-1929 published newspapers and journals for use until year 2020

_The National Library of Finland has opened digitized newspapers and journals published until the end of 1929 for public use until the year 2020. A new agreement between the copyright organization Kopiosto and The National Library has enabled this.

Promoting the use of newspapers and journals in research with Haka authentication

National Library of Finland has started on summer 2018 together with Kopiosto, Ministry of Education and Culture and six universities a pilot project to promote and consolidate use of the newspapers and journals in research. The materials encompasses the restricted-use newspapers and journals up to the year 2010. This pilot is running until end of year 2019.
